Victor Hugo was born on February 26, 1802 in the city of Besançon, France. He grew up in a family of educated parents and from childhood showed an interest in literature and art. His mother, Sophie Hugo, is considered one of the key figures who inspired him to the writer's path.

He received his education in Paris, where he quickly became known as a young and talented poet. His first poems attracted admiration and recognition among Parisian writers.

One of Hugo's most famous novels is Notre-Dame de Paris, also known as The Hunchback of Notre-Dame. The novel was published in 1831 and became a world bestseller.
