Scott received a quality education at the University of Edinburgh studying humanities and law. His education helped shape his intellectual and literary interests.

At first, Volter Scott worked as a lawyer, but his real passion lay in literature and history. In 1802, he published his first epic verse novel, The Lady of the Lake, which immediately became a bestseller and brought him wide fame.

From that moment began his literary career. Volter wrote historical novels in which he explored Scottish and English history, creating vivid images and fascinating subjects. His works, such as Ivanhoe, Kennyliven Orphan (Waverley), and Rob Roy, became popular not only in the UK, but also abroad.
