William Wordsworth - Biography

Wordsworth: The Life and Work of the Great English Poet

William (1770-1850) is one of the most important and influential names in the history of English poetry. His works combine the beauty of nature, deep feelings and philosophical reflections. In this article, we invite you to immerse yourself in the life and work of William Wordsworth, study his biography, trace his contributions to romantic literature, and appreciate his influence on literary art.

William was born on 7 April 1770 in Cockermouth, Cumbria, England. He was brought up in very difficult times - during the industrial revolution and political storms in Europe. Wordsworth's parents died when he was still a young boy, and his and his brother Dorothy were raised by their grandmother.

Wordsworth was educated at St John's College, Oxford, where he developed an interest in literature and philosophy. Later, in the early 1790s, he went on a trip to Europe, including France and Italy. These journeys greatly influenced his worldview and literary style.

William Wordsworth began writing poetry in his early youth, but his real literary breakthrough came when he met the poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge in 1795. Together they formed a romantic movement in English literature and became close friends and literary associates. In 1798, they jointly published a collection of poems called "Lyrical Ballads," which became an important moment in the history of English poetry.

"Poetic Ballads," written by Wordsworth and Coleridge, is recognized as one of the first works of Romantic literature. In this collection of poems, they addressed nature, inner feelings, imagination and free creativity. Their poetry was very different from the classical styles of the time and inspired other poets and artists.
