Wolfgang Goethe - Biography

Goethe (1749-1832) is a name that is a symbol of great German literature and culture. This distinguished poet, writer and thinker left an unforgettable mark on the history of art and literature. His works are considered classics of world literature and had a huge influence on the development of literary and artistic directions. In this biography, we will examine the life and work of a Goethe, his contribution to literature and culture, as well as its significance for world literature.

Wolfgang was born on August 28, 1749 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. He was the son of an imperial counselor and mistress. From an early age, his interest in literature and art manifested itself, and his parents supported his passion for education.

In 1765 he entered the University of Leipzig, where he studied law, but literature was his real interest. Here he became acquainted with literary circles and began to write his first poems and works.

One of the most famous works was the romantic novel "The Suffering of Young Werther" (1774), which immediately brought him great success and fame. The novel tells the story of the love of young Werther and his suffering, and he became a symbol of romanticism and youth. This work became a bestseller and had a significant impact on the youth of its time.

Goethe spent several years in the Italian city of Rome, where travel and communication with Italian culture had a huge impact on his work. He studied Italian and art, and this experience was reflected in his later works, including the poem "Italian Travel Note" (Italienische Reise).

Goethe was also famous as a playwright. His plays, such as "Hötz von Berlichingen" and "Faust," became classics of German drama. "Faust" is his most famous work, in which he explored the eternal themes of human life, soul, and the eternal struggle between good and evil. This tragedy was written in several stages and remained incomplete by the time Goethe died.
