Yasunari Kawabata began his literary career in 1927 when his first short story was published. He was a member of the Young Literature movement (Wakai bungaku), which sought innovation and experimentation in Japanese literature. His first works were written in the spirit of modernism and differed from traditional Japanese literary styles.
Yasunari's most famous works include the novel "Snow of Wanderings" ("Yukiguni"), which tells about the dramatic fate of the hero who found himself between two cultures - Japanese and Western. His other notable works include "The Thousand Cranes" ("Senbazuru") and "The Star and Death of Isei Kamiya" ("Hoshi to Shura"). His style is distinguished by its deep lyricism and attention to the details of nature and human relations.
