Arrival (2016)

The plot of the film takes place at the time of the first contact of mankind with an alien race that flew to Earth. Linguist Louise Banks (Isabelle Huppert) and physicist Janssen (Jeremy Renner) are invited by the US government to research and attempt to communicate with these creatures, which are in strange floating capsules called "shells."

As world leaders face mounting tensions and seek to understand the aliens' true intentions, Louise begins to unravel their language. Every day she plunges deeper into the world of their linguistics, opening up the magnificent possibilities of their ability to see time nonlinearly.

Gradually, she realizes that the aliens did not arrive for war, as many believe, but for another purpose. They came to give humanity a gift - a language that will allow us to see the world beyond time, as well as provide knowledge that will help us prevent a future catastrophe.

The essence of the film is not only in communicating with aliens, but also in discussing complex philosophical and moral issues such as time, fate, history and elections. In the end, Louise faces a stunning discovery about her own life and fate that changes her view of the world forever.
