Auditor (1933)

The plot of the film takes place in a small town, where the authorities are worried about the rumor about the arrival of the auditor - incognito a high-ranking official sent by the tsarist government to check the honesty and effectiveness of local authorities. To avoid possible trouble, local officials and wealthy landowners seek to bribe and please the alleged auditor.

However, when a young clerk Khlestakov accidentally arrives in the town, wanting to stay for the night, his coincidence with a high-ranking official leads to him being mistaken for an auditor. Khlestakov is not disappointed and begins to use his position for his own benefit, demanding various privileges and bribes from the authorities.

The film is full of comic situations, misunderstandings and vivid characters, creating a fun atmosphere and conveying the mood of Gogol's original play.
