Prince of Egypt (1998)

The plot of the film tells the story of Moses, born into the slavery of the Egyptian people and intended to become a leader who will free them from the chains of the pharaoh. The film begins with Moses' childhood, when his mother, desperate to save him from death, descends him in a basket along the Nile, where he accidentally falls into the hands of his pharaonic daughter and is raised in a palace.

Growing up, Moses learns about his true roots and that the Egyptian people are subjected to cruel slavery. Doubting his identity and feeling courage and justice in himself, Moses leaves the palace and goes in search of his place in the world. Meeting God in a burning bush, Moses receives a message of his calling to free the Egyptian people from slavery.

With the help of his brother, Ramesses, whom he loved and grew up with, Moses tries to convince Pharaoh to free the Jews. But Ramesses refuses, and a series of miraculous biblical events begins, including ten kars, the spilling of Red Sea water, and the receipt of the Ten Commandments.

The film also draws attention to the personal drama and internal struggles of Moses, who faces his own fears, doubts and questions of faith before accepting his true purpose and leading the Egyptian people to liberation.
